WEEK 13
Results: 9-6
Season: 121-67 (64.36%)

OK, call me crazy, but one of the things I hate is how the pro's never own up to their blunders. Well, except for Jimmy Kimmel, but I'm not sure if the word pro is appropriate there. Anyway, The Reckoning is the section where you can read my comments about my predictions and see how I did. And yes, I'll own up to it when I get a pick royally wrong.

OK, I'm getting better, but not good enough. This week there were a few upsets that hurt, but that wasn't the sum of it. The Skins/Eagles game hurt, but I did predict it to be a good close game. And who would've thought that Miami would win in Indy? Oh well, that's what makes for good football!

On to the games...

Detroit Lions 34, New England Patriots 9
I never thought that with a change of head coach in the middle of the season that the Lions would be so hot. I know the Pats aren't that great of a team, but the Lions are on a roll. Much of the credit belongs to Charlie Batch. That is one tough kid.
(Prediction: Lions 21, Patriots 17)

Minnesota Vikings 27, Dallas Cowboys 15
I almost got the score right on this one. I think the road to the Super Bowl this year will be running through Pontiac. This Viking team is a force. They have the offensive weapons and a defense that can help hold the team in games. It will be interesting to see how they play the other top teams in the league come playoff time.
(Prediction: Cikings 27, Cowboys 17)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Buffalo Bills 17
Everyone keeps asking after every Tampa Bay win if this game is the game that will get them to the form everyone (including me) expected. I think Shaun King may be turning out to be what everyone expected Culpepper to be in Minnesota. What will become of Tampa Bay? I don't know, but I do know that I got this game right.
(Prediction: Buccs 17, Bills 10)

New York Jets 17, Chicago Bears 10
The Bears are like the Energizer Bunny, they just keep going and going and going. Don't tell them that they've lost two quarterbacks are are playing with a third stringer. They haven't seemed to notice. They just keep working and working. No disrespect to the Jets, they are a great team, but Chicago just plays hard!
(Prediction: Jets 24, Bears 10)

Baltimore Ravens 44, Cleveland Browns 7
The Ravens can put on the defensive show all on their own. Not to mention the scoring show. Wow, they spanked Cleveland and showed they belong in the playoff chase.
(Prediction: Ravens 20, Browns 7)

Miami Dolphins 17, Indianapolis Colts 14
This was a tough loss for Indy. It definitely hurt their playoff chances. Whether they can come back from this loss will determine whether they are in the playoffs. Miami is the team of the day however. They are fighting with the Saints as the surprise team of the year. That will be an interesting battle.
(Prediction: Colts 30, Dolphins 21)

New Orleans Saints 31, St. Louis Rams 24
I can't be more pleased about getting a game wrong than this one. Brooks showed the needed leadership that led the Saints to the victory. The Saints games are now fighting for the division title over the Rams and possibly a bye for the first week of the Playoffs?!? Who whould've thought that? Geaux Saints!!!
(Prediction: Rams 35, Saints 21)

Philadelphia Eagles 23, Washington Redskins 20
McNabb is the real deal. He can throw and run. He's leading the Eagles to a great finish, and they still have a bye week! This is a tough team that will go into the playoffs well rested. With a strong defense and McNabb's offense, this could be the team to beat down the stretch.
(Prediction: Redskins 21, Eagles 20)

Pittsburgh Steelers 48, Cincinnati Bengals 28
Somethime, you wonder if the Steelers will ever get it all together, then they come up with a game like this one. Kordell Stewart had the control he needed to win this one and he even got to take a rare fourth quater rest.
(Prediction: Steelers 18, Bengals 10)

Oakland Raiders 41, Atlanta Falcons 14
The Raiders are the toughest team in football right now (even if someone forgot to tell the Broncos). I felt bad when the Saints lost to them, but after seeing this score, I didn't feel so bad. Oakland will be the team to beat in the AFC playoffs this year.
(Prediction: Oakland 31, Falcons 14)

Denver Broncos 38, Seattle Seahawks 31
Denver is playing football with a passion. They are suffering through some tough injuries. They are playing gutsy ball that has won them some games with come-from-behind finishes. It makes for great football for fans, and ulcers for coaches.
(Prediction: Broncos 35, Seahawks 17)

San Diego Chargers 17, Kansas City Chiefs 16
The Chargers won their first game. Good for them! I'm not sure what's wrong with the chiefs, but I'm glad I wasn't in their locker room after this one. I'm sure there are several players who lost weight either because of sweating it off or being shewed off.
(Prediction: Chiefs 21, Chargers 18)

Jacksonville Jaguars 16, Tennessee Titans 13
Being able to drive down the field and score points is important, but doing it late in the fourth quarter in order to win is vital. That is just what the Jaguars did. The Titans are not the shining team they appeared to be a few short weeks ago.
(Prediction: Titans 21, Jaguars 15)

New York Giants 31, Arizonal Cardinals 7
The few minutes of this game I watched made me glad I'm not an NFL coach. Cardinals coach Dave Brown was about to bust open some serious blood vessels in his head he was so worked up. This game was all about the Giants though. Maybe that new stadium will help the Cardinals next year.
(Prediction: Giants 21, Cardinals 14)

Carolina Panthers 31, Green Bay Packers 14
The Packers couldn't seem to get it together. I don't like Favre very much, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. He seemed to be the only person that showed up to play on the Packers offense. The defense was even worse. The Panthers got that revenge from last year's playoff hopes by knocking the Packers out of the race.
(Prediction: Packers 24, Panthers 18)
