WEEK 13

This is the section where I get to talk about the games for the week and tell you why I think my picks are correct. Yes, I do have to live with what I say, too. I will post The Reckoning each week to answer for my picks. I’ll also make some nominations for a few games:

Dive on in, and if you don't agree, I'm always willing to talk trash. Send me an eMail at plw_sports@yahoo.com.

Thanksgiving Week is a great week for football. Unfortunately, the Thanksgiving day matchups don't inspire me. But I still love watching football with a belly full of turkey, ham, and fixings. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy some football!

On to the games...

New England Patriots at Detroit Lions
New England is a great team for Detroit to play. That is if you want to see the Lions make the playoffs. This will be, I think, the better of the Thanksgiving day games.
** Lions 21 , Patriots 17

Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys
I'm not sure that Dallas is going to be very happy with their matchup for this Thanksgiving. Look for Minnesota to get an early lead and rack up more rushing yards as they chew the seconds off the clock.
** Vikings 27, Cowboys 17

Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Big Dog Bowl
Buffalo is a good defense and so is Tampa. In Tampa, they get the edge since the weather should be acceptable. Look for some good defensive matchups.
** Buccs 17, Bills 10

Chicago Bears at New York Jets
The Jets are on a roll, and despite my incorrect prediction last week, Chicago is on their third QB this year. Give the Jets the edge and hopefully the Bears won't loose another QB. If they do, maybe they can talk Jim McMahon out of retirement.
** Jets 24, Bears 10

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Cleveland has been waiting for the chance to clobber the Ravens to pay back for the team leaving years back. That won't be this year. Baltimore is a force for now, so Cleveland will have to hold out hope for another day.
** Ravens 20, Browns 7

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts - Scoreboard Bowl
A good game between two good teams. Don't let the fact that the Jets have the Dolphins number fool you. The Dolphins are a good team and they can still make the playoffs, but they need to beat Indy either here or in Week 16. Look for that win to come in Miami, not Indy.
** Colts 30, Dolphins 21

New Orleans Saints at St. Louis Rams
New Orleans is hurting with the loss of five starters this year to injury, four of those on offense. Despite that, look for the Saints to keep this close. The biggest thing that hurts the Saints is the loss of Ricky. Not because of the run as much as because of the ability to chew up the clock. The defense looked tired last week and that is not good. This should be another good game.
** Rams 35, Saints 21

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins
OK, this may not mean much to many people, but this game will may very well determine the NFC East Conference Champs. Philadelphia is playing great ball, and without Duce! I never thought it would happen, but it did. Look for this game to be very close with many lead changes. I give the edge to the Skins because of the home field and their secondary.
** Redskins 21, Eagles 20

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals
If they want to make the playoffs, Pittsburgh can't afford any more losses. This game is a must win, as are the rest of them, and even that may not be enough. The Steelers should be able to pull this one in.
** Steelers 18, Bengals 10

Atlanta Falcons at Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are arguably the best team in the AFC. Two tough losses to the Broncos are all that stand between them and perfection. They will be leading the charge come playoff time and will stand between anyone else in the AFC and the Super Bowl.
** Raiders 31, Falcons 14

Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks
Well, the Seahawks seemed to turn on the afterburner a couple of weeks ago. And they had a week off. And their playing at home. It won't be enough to stop the Broncos. This game will be a romp.
** Broncos 35, Seahawks 17

Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers
Will Kansas City be able to win this week? Will the Chargers win their first game? Will anyone watching this game stay awake? This game will draw as much attention as the vote count in Oregon. That is to say that if it lasts too long, it might get a brief mention. Yawn. Don't bother.
** Chiefs 21 , Chargers 18

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee needs a break, but they better keep their guard up this week. While Jacksonville may be something of a let down team, they can still win. If Tennessee doesn't keep a guard up, they will be hurting.
** Tennessee 21 , Jacksonville 15

New York Giants at Arizona Cardinals
A team that is .500 or under is just what the Giants need. Their poor performances the past two weeks may give the Cardinals hope, but I doubt the Giants will be easy to beat. The Giants will win by a TD.
** Giants 21, Cardinals 14

Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers
Green Bay is hoping to get into the playoffs. They will need to win and get help from some other teams. Carolina is wanting revenge for last year when the total points for the season kept them out of the playoffs in favor of the Packers. The Panthers believe they are the better team, but the are not. Farve is playing and Wesley Walls is out. The Pack will win this one.
** Packers 24 , Panthers 18
