WEEK 12

This is the section where I get to talk about the games for the week and tell you why I think my picks are correct. Yes, I do have to live with what I say, too. I will post The Reckoning each week to answer for my picks. I’ll also make some nominations for a few games:

Dive on in, and if you don't agree, I'm always willing to talk trash. Send me an eMail at plw_sports@yahoo.com.

Well, the picks don't get any easier. This is another good week for football fun. There have been enough upsets this year to make everyone wonder. So keep hopin' and wishin' and thinkin' and prayin'.
(Can you tell I'm a Saints fan?)

On to the games...

Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles
Talk about runner up for the Dennis Miller Bowl. This game is almost not to care about, but it does have some hope. After all Arizona beat Washington. (I wonder how long it will take for Washington to live that one down?) Anyway, Arizona seems pitted to help the Eagles playoff hopes. Look for Philadelphia to waltz away with this one.
** Eagles 27 , Cardinals 14

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs
This game could be very close. I'm inclined to go with the home team, but then again, the Chiefs lost to San Francisco! Of course on the other hand, Wade is determined to start Johnson. Oh boy what a delima. Well, I'm not a fortune teller, but I think Johnson may not be back 100% and may get hurt. Then the Flutmeister will be in and Buffalo will win. This one's gonna be close
** Bills 27, Kansas City 21

Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings
The Panthers may show up, but in Viking territory, I don't think it will matter. I think Culpepper is out of his funk and will shine again (thanks to Smith, Carter, and Moss). Look for the Vikings to run away with this one early and let Smith rack up some good yardage.
** Vikings 35, Panthers 20

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots - Dennis Miller Bowl (Who Cares Game!)
This is a dud. A 2-8 vs a 2-8! Who really cares. I'm going to pick the Patriots because I think they are better than the Bengals, but who really cares.
** Patriots 20, Bengals 10

Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans
Can you say embarrassed? I think the Titans fans, players, and coaches can. They will be out for redemption this week. The Browns on the other hand beat the Patriots pretty handily. I think the redemption factor (especially at Adelphia) calls for Tennessee to dominate this one.
** Titans 24, Browns 10

Detroit Lions at New York Giants
Another good game. Two teams with playoff hopes and dreams. I like the Lions, but I think the Giants have the edge. Look for a close game to go the way of the Giants.
** Giants 21, Lions 18

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers
Favre is probably not going to start, so the Packers are at something of a loss. They Pack can put up a fight at Lambeau Field, but the Colts are a force that teams will have to reckon with down the stretch.
** Colts 27, Packers 21

Oakland Raiders at New Orleans Saints - Big Dog Bowl
Were Ricky Williams playing, I would give this game to the Saints with little second thought. Yeah, I'm a fan, but the defense is just too dominating for most offenses, including the Raiders. The fact that Ricky is out with the injury will hurt the offensive effort the Saints put forth, but I think they will still win. They have an offense that can produce without Ricky, just not as consistently. This should be a low scoring close game.
** Saints 24, Raiders 21

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears
Stick a fork in Chicago, they are done. Tampa can use the easy week allowing for some rest of a sort. This will be a blow out.
** Buccaneers 35, Bears 10

New York Jets at Miami Dolphins - Game of the Week
Revenge is sweet when you can get it at home. Miami is out to redeem themselves and maybe chalk up a bit of revenge against their loss to the Jets earlier in the season. This game will be the best game on this week. Look for a close score with Miami winning unless we face another OT in which case the Jets will win by a TD. I think Miami can win this one in regulation.
** Dolphins 21, Jets 20

San Deigo Chargers at Denver Broncos
Well, the Chargers don't have any lights in this tunnel that don't sit on the front of a train. Terrell will run that train all over them this week. Something will have to happen or the Chargers will end up 0-16 on the season.
** Broncos 27, Chargers 14

Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49er's
This game presents come intereisting options. Such as who really cares. This is another game for the Dennis Miller Bowl. The only thing this game guarantees is that one of these two teams will not finish with only 3 wins. I'm going to go with the 49er's for the simple fact that they beat the Chiefs. Yeah, I know I said it was a fluke, but the Falcons are about as good as the Chiefs pretended to be.
** 49er's 28 , Falcons 21

Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens
Watch out. The Ravens may score another touchdown. Dallas, struggling as they are, can count on no breaks from the schedule. The Ravens will win this one fairly easily.
** Ravens 20 , Cowboys 10

Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are a much better team than anyone gave them credit for at the beginning of the season. They could have easily won against the Eagles had they won the OT toss. The Jags, on the other hand, are a much worse team than anyone expected at the beginning of the season. They lost to the Seahawks of all people?!?! The Steelers will use this game to keep pressure on the Titans.
** Steelers 21, Jaguars 14

Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams - Scoreboard Bowl
Better go out and buy some extra lights for the scoreboard at the TWA dome. The Rams are still hot with two of their best players out. The Skins are coming off a bad loss and a week off. Watch out for the heat in the TWA dome from all the lights on the scoreboard. The Rams will walk away with the victory and a tan.
** Rams 35 , Redskins 28
