WEEK 11

This is the section where I get to talk about the games for the week and tell you why I think my picks are correct. Yes, I do have to live with what I say, too. I will post The Reckoning each week to answer for my picks. I’ll also make some nominations for a few games:

Dive on in, and if you don't agree, I'm always willing to talk trash. Send me an eMail at plw_sports@yahoo.com.

Well, now is crunch time. Either put up or shut up. This is usually the time when picking teams gets a bit easier, but this year is difficult because so many teams are responding to crunch time so well. It makes it that much more difficult. And fun

On to the games...

Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings
The Cards surprised the Redskins, but I didn’t like the Redskins from the beginning. And it was because of more than Daniel "Oh Danny Boy" Snide-er. Anyway, I think Green, Moss, and Carter will be able to pick Culpepper’s head off the grass at Lambeau Field and get it back into the game. Smith should be able to keep the Cards honest. Look for a Viking win, but not by a huge margin.
** Vikings 24, Cardinals 17

Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions
Atlanta is having serious trouble. Chandler left the game with a concussion and regardless of whether he starts or not, that injury will affect Atlanta’s performance. Meanwhile, coming off a whuppin’ from Miami, Detroit is hurting as well. The loss of their coach will shake them up a bit, but will it be enough. This game will be tight.
** Lions 13, Falcons 12

Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans - Big Dog Bowl
This game is going to be a great defensive matchup. McNair will be the difference in a tight matchup. The Ravens will be back in form lacking a touchdown, and McNair will connect for a couple to make this game the Titans.
** Titans 14, Ravens 9

Chicago Bears at Buffalo Bills
I’ll say it now since I haven’t heard it yet from anyone else. The Bears should’ve started Miller at the beginning of the season and left McDown-and-out to learn from the sideline. Miller has a spark that got the Bears Engine going at Soldier field last week. Flutie is starting for Wade’s little buddy. (Hey Wade, get a grip and start with Grandma’s little munchkin all the time.) Anyway, Flutie just has a special magic that surrounds him and that magic somehow pulls out amazing victories. Look for that magic on Sunday.
** Bills 24, Bears 21

Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys - Dennis Miller Bowl (Who Cares Game!)
So the Bengals think they have a running back. Well, that great running back helped the Ravens edge out the Saints for the # 1 rushing defense. Like I said before, when the Bengals get an NFL team, someone wake us up. The Cowboys are also skidding. Poor Jerry, can’t buy a win. Well this week, watch the points come rolling in. This game belongs to the boys.
** Cowboys 27, Bengals 14

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
Now I gotta pick the Saints. If you know me, you know that going in. But let me tell you. If there has been one team that worried me all year, it has been the Panthers. I mean, they are not doing that great, but we had a time with them at the last game. I expect us to win, but I don’t think it will come easy.
** Saints 24, Panthers 20

New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns
The Browns have shown some interesting stuff this year. They are on the right track, but I think the track ran out a several weeks ago. Granted, their schedule isn’t near as easy as others, but I think they will be a good team eventually. New England wins this one handily.
** Patriots 20, Browns 10

Philadelphia Eagles at Pittsburgh Steelers
Well, I really liked the Eagles at the beginning of the season. Despite the fact that the Saints lost, I actually enjoyed watching Duce run. Unfortunately, that 2-spot is no longer in there. I would have like to have seen him run against the Steelers. Anyway, look for the Steelers to win in this week's Big Dog Bowl runner up.
** Steelers 10, Eagles 7

Seattle Seahawks at Jacksonville Jaguars
I’m not sure what Holmgren is doing out there in Seattle, but I don’t think it is football anymore. The Seahawks are playing like the SHE-hawks. The Jaguars really should have gotten a harder game coming off their bye week, but this is it. Look for the Jags to romp like the cats feasting on canary.
** Jaguars 28, Seahawks 10

Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49er’s - Scoreboard Bowl
OK, this game may not have as many points as the St Louis vs. KC game, but it will be close. The Chiefs coming off the disappointing loss to the Raiders are almost in a must win situation. The 49er’s have nothing left this year, but they refuse to roll over and play dead. I think the Chiefs will win, but the Niners will have their say.
** Chiefs 49, Niners 28

Miami Dolphins at San Deigo Chargers
Unfortunately for the Chargers, I’ve picked Miami to be one of the surprise teams this year otherwise I would grant this game to the Chargers. Yeah, and monkeys might.... Well, let’s not go there. Miami could use the rest, but hopefully they will keep their game up. Sorry Charger fans, but I hope you can say Oh and Ten.
** Dolphins 28, Chargers 10

Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
So the pack upset Minnesota. So Favre is getting back to form. So what!?!? Sapp, Keyshawn and King make a powerful force out of the Buccs. And that doesn’t include Dunn and Alstott’s double punch. Lookout Brett, the pirates are coming.
** Buccaneers 28 , Packers 18

St. Louis Rams at New York Giants
BOOM!!! Warner is out. It’s OK, we can still fire on three cylinders. BOOM!!!! Faulk is out. It’s OK we can fire on two cylinders. Well, except against the Panthers. I think NOT! Look for the Rams to continue to lose until Faulk gets back regardless of what Warner does. The Giants should win this one.
(Note to the objective reader: I may be a little biased because if the Rams lose and the Saints win, the Saints will hold the division title for at least one week.)
** Giants 30 , Rams 24

New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts
This game is a close runner up for the Game of the week. I dislike Mora and Manning more than Dennis Miller so this game loses. Anyway, this game should be really tight. Look for the Colts to pull out this close one in OT.
** Colts 31 , Jets 28

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos - Game of the Week
The Raiders are possibly the best team in football. I’ll say it here. The AFC Championship Game will be between the Raiders and the Titans. The fact that Davis is back for the Broncos will make this game close though. Look for the Raiders Defense to make a late stand to allow their team to win.
** Raiders 27 , Broncos 24
